Founded in 1853, Echuca became the largest inland port in Australia, second only to the Port of Melbourne. Today it’s Australia’s paddle steamer capital with a rich and interesting colonial heritage and also the perfect place for a relaxing holiday with plenty to see and do on the Discover Murray River Trail.

The historic Port of Echuca literally means the ‘meeting of the waters’ and sits on the junction of the Murray and Campaspe rivers, just downstream from the Goulburn River.
